Bluetooth LE profile development RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am looking for information on developing a simple Bluetooth LE profile for the Windows 8 stack. Similar to the heart rate profile I want my profile to live in user space and implement a very simple protocol which will also be implement in firmware on the connected device. Are there sample/docs anywhere that explain how to do this?

  • Hello,

The preferred way to interact with Bluetooth LE device on Windows 8.1 moving forward is by using the Bluetooth Windows Runtime API

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/windows/apps/dn297685

Samples on how to build a Windows App using the Bluetooth Windows Runtime API can be found here:

    http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/Bluetooth-Generic-5a99ef95

The Bluetooth Windows Runtime API is also accessible to Desktop applications and services, if that suits your needs better.

Please let us know if you have any other questions, thank you !

  • This answer seems to imply that the support discussed for Bluetooth LE in Windows 8 did not make it in until 8.1, is that correct?
