  • Question

  • I am deploying AzureStack TP2 , but the following error has occurred.

    Please show the way to solve it.

    After executing the boot setting with the following command, the time of the WindowsOS is 1 hour earlier than BIOS time, is this affected?

    >>C:/AzureStackTP2SupportFiles/PrepareBootFromVHD.ps1 -CloudBuilderDiskPath C:/CloudBuilder.vhdx -ApplyUnattend

    Is this normal state?

  • Hi,
    Please try redeploying using the rerun parameter if you have not already done so.

    cd C:\CloudDeployment\Configuration
    .\InstallAzureStackPOC.ps1 -rerun

    If continue to receive the same error, make sure the user in the AADAdminCredential belongs to the same directory you specify in AADDirectoryTenantName. Script validates this incorrectly breaks later in deployment. If the user does not belong to the AAD directory then unfortunately you have to start from scratch.

    The user must be a global administrator and has to be a native AAD directory user like admin@aadtenant.onmicrosoft.com.

    If the deployment is still failing when running ConfigureADD, we'll need to check your Azure Active Directory & Network settings.
     Please run the following script to validate the following:
     - Internet connectivity & DNS Resolution
     - Compares Time Zones on All VMs
     - AAD Admin Account & Password
     - AAD Tenant Name

    ***NOTE: Make sure to update the "CHANGE-ME" text to your TenantID, AAD Admin & Password

    ### Set your Tenant ID, AAD-ServiceAdmin and Password #######
     $AadTenantId = "CHANGE-ME"
     $Credential = New-Object System.Management.Automation.PSCredential("CHANGEME@CHANGEME.onmicrosoft.com", `
     (ConvertTo-SecureString -String "CHANGE-ME" -AsPlainText -Force))

    ### Downloads and Imports the AzureRM module 1.2.6 installed #######
     Set-PSRepository -Name "PSGallery" -InstallationPolicy Trusted
     $AzureModule = "c:\Program Files\WindowsPowerShell\Modules\AzureRM\1.2.6\AzureRM.psd1"
     if (Test-Path $AzureModule){
         Import-Module $AzureModule -Global
           } else {
                 Install-Module -Name AzureRM -RequiredVersion 1.2.6
                 }
     Import-Module -Name "AzureRM" -Erroraction SilentlyContinue

    $NETVMS = @("MAS-BGPNAT01","MAS-DC01","MAS-WAS01")
     ### Runs Network Tests to login.windows.net on 443 from "MAS-CON01","MAS-DC01","MAS-WAS01"
     Invoke-command -Computername $NETVMS -ScriptBlock {TNC login.windows.net -port 443}

    ### Test DNS on MAS-BGPNAT and local Host
     Invoke-command -Computername $NETVMS -ScriptBlock {ipconfig /displaydns}

    ### Opens a Session on MAS-WAS01 and Autheticate to login.windows.net and get an Azure Stack Token.
     New-PSSession -Computername MAS-WAS01
     $AuthorityEndpoint = "https://login.windows.net"
     $armEndpoint = "https://api.azurestack.local
    $response = Invoke-RestMethod "${armEndpoint}/metadata/endpoints?api-version=1.0"
     $armResourceId = $response.authentication.audiences[0]
     $token = Get-AzureStackToken -Authority $AuthorityEndpoint -AadTenantId $AadTenantId -Resource $armResourceId -Credential $Credential -Verbose
     $token

  • Hi,

    It looks like the time needs to synchronized between the Host and all the VMs.

    NOTE: The DC (MAS-DC01) syncs with time.windows.com and the Host and all other VMs sync to the DC.

    To synchronize the time run the following script as AzureStackAdmin from an elevated PowerShell session.

    # Sync MAS-DC01 to time server time.windows.com

    W32tm /resync /Computer:MASA-DC01 /nowait

    ### Create array of VMs

    $ALLVMS = @("MACS-ACS01","MAS-ADFS01","MAS-ASql01","MAS-BGPNAT01","MAS-CA01","MAS-Con01","MAS-Gwy01","MAS-NC01", "MAS-SLB01", "MAS-SUS01", "MAS-WAS01", "MAS-Xrp01")

    # Syncs all VMs with MAS-DC01

    Invoke-Command -Computer $ALLVMS -ScriptBlock { gsv w32time | sasv; w32tm /resync /force }

    # Syncs Host with MAS-DC01

    Invoke-Command -Computer $env:Computername -ScriptBlock { gsv w32time | sasv; w32tm /resync /force }

    Once the time is synced between all Server VMs redeploy using the -rerun parameter

    cd C:\CloudDeployment\Configuration

    .\InstallAzureStackPOC.ps1 -rerun

    Thanks,

  • Two typos Gary, first line 'MASA-DC01' and  fourth line 'MACS-ACS01'.

  • Thank you. Ruud.

    I executed the command, but the same error occurred in Step 60.120.124.

    The command execution result is as follows.Since the WindowsTimeService was not started on the host,an error occurred once, but after starting the service, the synchronization was completed.

    The command result is as follows.

    I got a warning in the network test of login.windows.net,is it normal?

  • Hi,

    The ping test failure to port 443 on login.windows.net from MAS-BGPNAT is normal. I get the same Warning.

    Now that the time service is up and synced and you have successfully received a token for your Azure AD Admin Account, please try redeploying using the rerun parameter:

    cd C:\CloudDeployment\Configuration

    .\InstallAzureStackPOC.ps1 -rerun

    Thanks,

    Gary Gallanes

  • Hi.Gary.

    I ran the following command, but the same error occurred.

    cd C:\CloudDeployment\Configuration

    .\InstallAzureStackPOC.ps1 -rerun

    Are there other solutions?

  • You mentioned that the bios time differs from the OS time. Could you please change the time in the bios to UTC if possible and try again.

    Cheers,

  • I set the BIOS and OS time zone setting to UTC.
    However, when executing the deployment command below, the time of the OS became AM 10: 46 (currently AM 03: 46(UTC)) after restart.

    C:\CloudDeployment\Configuration\InstallAzureStackPOC.ps1 -NatIPv4Subnet xx.xx.xx.xx/xx -NatIPv4Address xx.xx.xx.xx -NatIPv4DefaultGateway xx.xx.xx.xx -EnvironmentDNS xx.xx.xx.xx

    Is this normal? I can not understand it.

    In the "date and time" setting, "Set time automatically" setting is default "on", should it be "off"?

    However, this setting can not be changed by graying out.The message "Some setting is managed by your organization" is displayed.

  • Date and time is forced by MAS-DC01, some users reported succes when they changed the bios time to UTC.

    Do you receive the same error, from the command above it looks like you installed Azure Stack again?
    Try to rerun and let me know if you still got the same error.

    # Redeploy Azure Stack TP2 using the -rerun parameter
    cd C:\CloudDeployment\Configuration
    .\InstallAzureStackPOC.ps1 -rerun
