TC2.5 - Install shared components to safe locations RRS feed

  • Question

  • Folks,

In the doc "Requirements for the Works With Windows Server 2008 Program for Software" it says:

"Services and device drivers must be placed in a location that can be safely referenced in all the boot phases and when the administrator re-maps the boot and system drive letters. The System directory is the recommended location."

Would this also include subdirectories in the System directory (e.g. %SystemRoot%\foo) as safely-referenced locations?  It seems like that would fit with the intention of the requirement, but our team would like to be sure! :-)

    Regards,

    Tammy

  • Hi Tammy,

Yes, safely-referenced locations include the sub directories in the System directory.

(Note: It is recommended to stick to the known/expected locations for specific files, e.g. driver/GAC/fonts etc.)

    Hope this helps.

    Amar
