Checkout dialog needs vast revamping!

    Question

  • In the 'old' days, if you needed to do extensive work on a solution, you could checkout just the solution file quite easily.  The dialog presented what was available to checkout in a treeview, with each project as a child node under the solution, and each module as a child of the project node.

Now it displays a list of everything in the world as a single, flat list.  (Did you get one of those drag-and-drop programmers to drop things for this piece, instead of writing code?)

The advantage of the treeview was that if you wanted to just check out the solution file itself, you just had to uncheck each project node to accomplish this.  This is a total (in my case) of 30 checkboxes vs about 350 checkboxes.  Just another way TFS has been drastically increasing development time over Source Safe......

I hope that Orcas addresses this.  If it isn't being addressed, the PLEASE put it on the high priority fix list.

  • Using Source Control Explorer or 'tf edit' would be way faster than unchecking 30 boxes.
