startup problem with usb devices (smart card reader) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

During the normal startup (not FBA) of my windows xp embedded image, the connected usb smart card reader is not recognized.(appears in device manager under universal serial bus controllers as 'uknown device', while it should be under smart card readers)

Nevertheless, when i reconnect the smart card reader after windows startup  (disconnect and plugin again) , the reader correctly installs itself. (i installed the device driver)

I don't have this problem when i install the full windows xp sp2 pro and connect the smart card reader.

So my suspicion is that i forgot some components in my embedded image for windows embbedded to have startup or is this a known problem in windows embedded?

Does anyone has a list of minimal required components concerning this problem (smart card readers, usb devices,...) ?

    Thank you in advance

  • YESS!!!

I found the problem (it was already mentioned in another thread)

I removed the following components from my image and it works fine now:

    - USB Boot Mass Storage Device update
    - USB Mass Storage Device
    - USB Common
    - USB NT Hardware Detect
    - USB 2.0 Boot Update

I dont't know yet if all these components needed to be removed, but i can start from here.
