Real time USB Monitoring RRS feed

  • Question

  • All,

Need some pointers in developing an application which can constantly monitor the USB Port input and trigger some event as soon as it receivers some digital input from the USB Port.

  • There is a way to set up callbacks from the C++ USB driver to the managed C# of .NET.  I believe some of the samples in MSRS demonstrate this.  Check out the fischertechnik and GPS samples.

  • In one of my old projects I used a USB joystick (9 micro switch inputs and 2 analog to digital devices built in every one and only $10AUD)
Then used the Joystick API's that monitor the ports to get the information and do with it whatever I wanted.
In a later project I did the same with a bluetooth joystick. You can plug lots of joysticks into a computer and easily monitor each one.
I haven't tried it with MSR yet.
