Is there a camera for the Galileo board ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All.

Does anyone know of a webcam that will work with the Galileo board running Microsoft's OS ?

I'm working on a project that is using an Arduino to drive a small robot arm, and a Raspberry Pi to grab and process images with OpenCV.  It would be good to do everything on the Galileo.

    Thanks,

    Gary.

  • If you want to use GPIO pins, you can try an Arduino camera like this one:

  • I have the same question.  I have a couple old logitech video cameras that I'd like to use to capture images or video via my Galileo.

  • I was hoping that a USB camera could be hooked up somehow (since it has a USB port).

  • I would be surprised if a UVC-compatible USB camera doesn't work. Have you tried one?

  • So far UVC stack is not supported in Galileo.  Even i tried to install the drivers from Windows 8.1 32 bit PC and failed due to instruction set variations.

Please mark as answer, if it is correct.

  • The rub is that most binaries are compiled using SSE, and that instruction set is missing on Galileo. On the other hand, most binaries compiled without requiring SSE use very, very old Windows APIs that are not going to be supported on Windows on Galileo. So pretty much, you'll need to at least recompile everything.

However, if you can find driver source for this video camera, you may be able to compile it for Galileo. It's worth a shot!
