Transport-Agent that sets Follow-Up-Flags on every incoming Mail RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi folks

one client asked me for a solution to automatically set the "Follow-Up-Flag" on every incoming Mail in Exchange 2007.

Normally Transport Rules should do the job, but there is no Option about setting this "Flag" using some Rule in the assistant.

Using a OL-Client-Rule isn't possible because such a rule could not be a server-side/saved rule, it could only be used locally, when OL is running.

On Exchange 2003 SMTP Transport Events could be used using a VB script.

    One can be found here:

    http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/3416/SMTP-Server-Transport-Events-Simple-Scripting

On Exchange 2007 there are only Transport-Agents which have to be compiled as a dll in visual studio and activated as an agent.

Could someone give me a start about writing such a script or dll? Or where to find help or ready-to-use "agents".

Another thing the client asked me was about Logging of "Follow-Up-Flags" changes.

Which of the Exchange diagnostic Levels should be raised up to see changes about a "Follow-Up-Flag" (like who changed the status and when...)

Any hints are highly appreciated ...

    Thanks in advance

    Stephan
