SQL Server 2017 Express Edition installation fails

Question

Hi,

I have the following problem: I want to install SQL Server 2017 Express and have tried several times, but I keep getting the same error. I googled the error but couldn't find any solutions that worked for me.

The installer says:

Unable to install SQL server (setup.exe). Exit code (Decimal): -2068119551 Error description: The specified service does not exist as an installed service

Any help is highly appreciated!

Does the machine satisfy the hardware and sw requirements for SQL 2017 version?

It seems like you tried multiple times and it failed. I would suggest to not try further installation. Go to SQL server configuration manager and try to start on of the services of SQL Server, if you cant see SSCM go to services.msc. If it does not start change service account to NT Authority\system and restart, if it still does not work go to event viewer and see why it is not starting.
