Requirement for very large data loads in MDS RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm now back to a previous question regarding very large data loads in MDS models.  We've been able to load geodata into MDS where, in certain entities, we have over 600,000 records.  This is a once-a-quarter load. MDS then runs so slowly in opening up with Explorer view that it is almost unusable.

Also, we need to deploy these very large models (split in two), but the wizard will not create the model package.  We've made all the suggested adjustments to the web configuration, but this still does not get us there.

This system is going into production, so I need a solution for both issues ASAP.

  • Hi Gerry

    - for model package creation/deployment, you could try with API (and before that increase all timeout related values in web.config):

FYI, a dev tool exists to deploy a model via the console (maybe you could also run the MDS trace log to check why your model package creation is not working)

    - for the slowliness issue (explorer) , you could try Denali which is faster, or try Master Data Maestro from Profisee (third party commercial application) with 2008R2, which drastically improves explorer load speed, up to 400% faster)
