Dear,
It look like pptx files open as "Read-Only Presentation" when opened from a SP2013 document library (w/ checkout required).
It is only the case from a W10 / Office 2016 workstation.
We don't have the problem from a W7 / Office 2013 workstation.
Therefore the user cannot upload his changes back to the document library. He has to save locally then reupload.
Do you have any clue on how to fix this?
