  • We need to know what Windows version you are using. This basic information will drive suggested solutions to your problem.

I'll start by guessing you have Windows 7. If my guess is incorrect, please ignore all that follows.

Windows 7 installs .NET Framework 2.0/3.0/3.5 through 3.5 SP1 as part of the OS. You can find it as follows:

Control Panel->Programs and Features->Turn Windows features on and off...

In the Windows Features dialog, find the entry "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1" Expand that node and ensure that all subfeatures are activated.

  • Hi Paul,

    Thanks for your post.

Like pvdg42 said, we'll need to know the version of your OS so that we can provide more specific suggestions.

Please firstly use the .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool to verify the installation status of .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. If it reports verify succeed, then you can try to install Windows Azure Tools for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 again. Otherwise, you'll need to repair/reinstall .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 firstly. If you are not using Windows 7, please download the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 fullpackage from the link below: http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/0/e/20e90413-712f-438c-988e-fdaa79a8ac3d/dotnetfx35.exe

Additionally, a new version of the the Windows Azure Tools for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 has released: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=15658. You can download and install this instead of the v1.3.

If you have any concerns, please feel free to let me know.

    Best Regards,

  • I have a similar problem, but my error occurs when I try to connect a SharePoint server to VS 2010.  I get an error that .NET 3.5 SP1 is not installed.  I am running Windows 7 and all features for .NET 3.5 are turned on.  The verification tool says that I have 3.5 installed but no service packs were detected.

Any idea on how to get this resolved?

  • Hi Eric,

I just found the solution. =) It was fixed after HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v3.5\SP was set to 1. Refer this for more information http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/windowsazure/thread/2a086e78-d4ab-47cc-b3ad-d24a52c4c103
