Need to delete the webconfig file ReportControl creates!!! RRS feed

  • Question

  • Using VS 2008 Version 3.5. Just starting playing around with the ReportViewer Control. Noticed the HTTPHandler it creates in the webconfig file once the control is added to the ascx page.  The problem is I already have a Webconfig file created in my project. Having 2 is causes errors when I load my webapp. What i did is copied the xml code from the web file the ReportControl created and pasted it into my 'original' webconfig file.    I want to delete the webconfig file that the Control creates and boom! it won't go away. It will continiously show up and is created.

Please help!! I really want to test and use the control.

  • Hi TAim,

How do you have two web.config files? Are they in separate folders of your site? What is the web.config in your solution and how is that web.config used at runtime?

The ReportViewer designer will ask VS for the web.config and add its handler info to the Configuration that it is given. So the viewer really has no knowledge of config files, it just works with whatever VS gives it.
