Adding frequently asked features to exchange. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Are there plans to add the following features to future versions of Outlook/Exchange/EWS Managed API:

-> Recurring events without a recurring series / with custom dates / with only a date list.

-> Setting an end date for a recurring series that has no end date (yet), without touching the exceptions that take place before that date.

-> Changing the time of all future instances of a recurring series, without changing the time of past instances/exceptions - either by making exceptions from all past instances, or by splitting the recurring series into two.

As of now, we have to tell customers who ask for these or similar features, that they have to switch back to Lotus Notes or Novell GroupWise or wherever they came from, because these systems support such a workflow.

While we could implement workarounds to support all these features for appointments created via our own interface and EWS Managed API, when it comes to meetings, and invitations are sent, it does not look well if the participants have to accept the time change of the series from 1400 to 1700, and then accept the time change from 1700 back to 1400 once for every of the past instances...
