VS2012 - win32 (x86) - Edit and Continue not working with Metro Apps ?

    General discussion

  • Hi guys,

"Debug->Apply code changes" works fine when I debug a Console Application.
But when trying the same with a metro app (like the Direct3D App - Template) I simply
donot get this option. (Also pressing Alt+F10 does nothing)

All the settings seem to be right:
Compiler: /Zi - Edit and Continue
    Linker flag: /INCREMENTAL
Also "Native Edit and Continue" has been enabled in "Debug->Options->Edit and continue"

    Any hints ?

    Kind regs,
    Roman

  • I'm investigating Roman. It looks like the answer is going to be that it's not available in Metro style CPP but I'm trying to get confirmation.

  • Hi Steve,

Thank you. On a side note - we're talking pure .c & .cpp files here - they are not derived from a xaml or something else.
It seems the /APPCONTAINER flag disables the edit and continue feature.

  • Yes, I've gotten confirmation that edit and continue is not enabled for C/C++ Metro style apps. Or not implemented yet, to be more accurate. The docs will be updated to reflect that.
