How to download a file using WebView in Metro app RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am writing a simple metro app using WebView where I want to download a file once I tap on a link on the webpage. I was trying to see if I get a callback/event in the app when a link is tapped/clicked on Webview (e.g. I am visiting a webpage & I click on a download file link). My purpose is once I know the downloadable file link, I can start the download (e.g. with BackgroundTransfer class)

Alternatively is there any other way to implement the same?

Reference link how it is being done in iOS is http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7377565/how-to-download-files-from-uiwebview-and-open-again

  • Hi,

As far as I know, there is no Navigating event in WebView control. Therefore, we can get the URL hardly. If we cannot get the URL, we cannot get the download link.

I think this function hard to achieve.
