Workflow Designer - Send Reminder E-mails if task is not completed

  • Hello,

    I have custom workflow (built through SharePoint Designer 2013) and I need to send reminder email if a task is not completed within 3 days. If the task is completed within 3 days, no need for a reminder and I will need the workflow to move to the other stages. I checked multiple sources online but none of them helped me. Can you please advise of how to accomplish this? Thank you!

  • One option is to use a "Pause" action until the 3 days post due date and if it is not completed email the assigned to owner.  This would be set on the tasks list that the workflow is assigned to.  

    Another option which doesn't exactly meet the 3 day requirement but there are overdue properties available that you can manage via the action properties. Using a SharePoint 2013 workflow action of Assign a Task or Start a Task Process you can set an overdue email reminder by right clicking on the action and going to properties.  Then there are a set of properties you can use which will send an email.
