Can third party apps use Flash now the IE Metro aupports it?

    Question

  • Now that the release preview is out and IE 10 Metro supports Flash in the browser, will third party apps be able to also play Flash content from sites in the whitelist? I want to show YouTube videos in my app but a lot of the videos still require Flash.

  • Hi Kyle,

No, you will need to provide the url to execute this in the IE 10 metro browser.

  • This is really disappointing news.  I hope that this decision is reconsidered for RTM.

  • Yes, it was very dissappointing for me too.  I am hoping Microsoft realizes that they have over-crippled this control and removed possibly hundreds of otherwise compelling apps from ever existing.  Microsoft has always beaten their competition by trying to enable and empower their developers, and I hope they continue this approach in Metro.
