App in the Notification Area?

    Question

  • Hello,

Is this possible to add my app as an icon in the Notification Area?

By the way, is there two Notification Areas, the one that appears when you show the Charms pane with the clock, Wi-Fi status and battery status and the one when you click the Settings Charm?

If so, is this possible with WinJS?

    Thank you!

  • Hi

As far as I know, WinRT haven't provide such a API for that.

We can't set the icon in your notification area, and for the second question the answer is no.

    We can't do that neither.

    Thanks

  • Windows Store apps provide notifications on their tiles or badges. See Tiles, badges, and notifications for more information.

They cannot add items to the desktop notification area. The widgets at the bottom of the settings charm are not notifications and are set by the system, not controllable by apps.
