Cant get signTool.exe RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi folks,

When I try and build my app, I get "An error occurred while signing. SignTool.exe not found"

After googling this, I found out I needed to install the Windows SDK. When I try to install this I get

I already have version .NET 4.6 installed. So when I try to install version 4, it tells me that a later version is already there. (Which of course there is).

So how / where now do I get the signtool.exe from?

    John

  • Hi,

I re-installed VS, this time, with the click once settings being checked now everything is fine.

    Thanks,

  • Hi jppnn,

Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.

Since you didn't mention your OS version, please pay attention to the OS version. .NET Framework 4.0 Supported OSs according to Microsoft

    • Microsoft Windows XP (but not Starter, Media Center or Tablet editions)
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2003
    • Windows Vista
    • Windows 7
    • Windows 8
    • Windows Server 2008
    • Windows 10

You may install .NET Framework 4.0 from the link below:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17851

Here are some common install tips of .NET Framework installation:

    ·         Turn off your anti-virus/antispyware software during installation

    ·         Install the latest Windows updates from the Windows Update site

    ·         Complete or dismiss Windows Update before installation. (and don't forget to turn it on later)

    ·         If the installation fails, you can collect the setup log file and analyze them.

You can follow below steps to collect log files:

    1.       Try to go to your "%temp%" folder (Start Menu >>Run >> Type "%temp%).

    2.       Manually filter the .net framework logs from "%temp%" folder .

Pleaseupload the file to https://onedrive.live.com/ and share the link here
