BackgroundDownloader.GetCurrentDownloadsForTransferGroupAsync throws FileNotFoundException RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am writing a windows 8.1 app and occasionally after closing the app the app will get into a state where it cannot use any of the Background Transfer API functions. For example when I try to call BackgroundDownloader.GetCurrentDownloadsForTransferGroupAsync this function throws a FileNotFoundException with no details as to which file could not be found. I ran a Process Monitor while trying to call it in this situation but I'm unable to tell which events to look at. The log is attached in the dropbox link.

The only way I can find to fix this is to re-install the app but in production scenarios this is unacceptable. Does anyone know how to fix this or get the Background Transfer into a clean state?
