You and a ton of others. Current solutions seem to be Hyper-V, VMWare 8, or
    VirtualBox.

  • Downloaded and installed VirtualBox; Windows 8 DP started installation, but again failed due to "missing files".  Looks like it was not ready for a preview.  Will try again later(much).

  • Well the 2nd time is a charm, loaded and installed from DVD on VirtualBox.  Actually is running...a little jerky but running.

  • It's funny, I had the exact same problem.  It fail the first time, but succeeded the 2nd time round?!  Make one wonder.

    Be sure you install the

    Guest Additions
Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack to enable USB 2.0 (EHCI) Controller :: if wanted

and make sure your setting include:

System - Motherboard - Enable IO APIC
    System - Processor - Enable PAE/NX
System - Acceleration - Enable VT-x/AMD-V and Enable Nested Paging
Display - Video - Enable both 3D Acceleration and 2D Video Acceleration

I was having issues getting my networking to work and found the following article.  Follow the step to the letter and everything worked! http://geekswithblogs.net/RollingIT/archive/2011/09/14/getting-hands-on-with-virtual-machine-of-windows-8.aspx  Even though my network adapter wasn't what he specified, nor the audio controller, using the settings that were specified made everything work!!!
