How do I turn off Publish button? RRS feed

Hello, I am a developer on a MOSS 2007 project.  Our site structure consists of a number of channels.  What is odd is that we see a "Publish" button when creating / editing a document in certain channels but not others.  It is not a problem during development, but I don't want my users seeing that button when this goes to production.  It allows them to bypass our workflow process completely.  How do I turn off that button in these channels?

  • Site Settings -> Site Features then deactivate "Office SharePoint Server Publishing" will disable publishing for the entire site.

  • I don't think disabling the 'Publishing Feature' we solve his problem, becuase he still wants to have that publishing content authoring going on. Correct me if I am wrong.

One thing I don't understand is why would your users ever get to see PUBLISH button. I think you need to check out your security settings. I suspect your user groups are not configured properly on certain channels. Check them first. ...
