WFP with Metro apps RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a WFP that redirects traffic to localhost, where it get picked by a service and goes out via the service, it works great for desktop mode, but there are some issues on Metro, I can see partial traffic going in, but at the end, IE10 doesn't work.

I read on this post: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wfp/thread/8b45ecd6-a389-433f-b443-766f959d20b3 that WFP has redirection bugs so my questions are:

    1. Are they fixed in the RP version of Windows?

    2. Where can I get WFP samples of the latest SDK, there are no sampled in the SDK preview for Windows 8.

    3. Where can I get LSP samples of the latest SDK, there are no sampled in the SDK preview for Windows 8.

  • Yes, the Win8 release preview has fixed the Metro redirection issues.  For a sample, you can look at the WFPSampler (http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/Windows-Filtering-Platform-27553baa).  For other samples, please search http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsdesktop/ (WFP is now a keyword)

    hope this helps,

  • Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I did some extensive reading regarding Metro, WFP and the new App Store and something is not clear to me.

From what I understood you must be a Metro app if you want to apply to the store, in that case, I didn't see any documentation that talks about interaction between Metro apps and WFP, just so we can talk specifics: I'm talking about a Parental Control or Firewall products that want to be part of the App Store.
