Official list of Visual Studio build numbers RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

I am trying to find an official list of the different Visual Studio IDE's and what the corresponding build numbers are such as:

    Visual Studio 2008 RTM: 9.0.21022.8
    Visual Studio 2008 SP1: 9.0.30729.1

    Many thanks

  • Hi Gabriel,

As far as I know, in any MSDN article or any KB article, it cannot be found anything like that.

However, the Visual Studio version numbers are available on Aaron Stebner's blog. As Aaron mentioned, since some of the magic that the Visual Studio and .NET Framework build lab uses to build some of the files that are part of the .NET Framework, you can see a .NET Framework-like version number (one that starts with 1.0, 1.1, or 2.0) or a Visual Studio-like version number (one that starts with 7.0, 7.10, or 8.0).
    See: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2005/07/12/what-net-framework-version-numbers-go-with-what-service-pack.aspx
