XPerf and .NET Cold Startup issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am wondering to see examples on how to use WPA and XPerf to find cold startup issues with windows applicaiton. I have WinForms/WPF interop application that takes a lot of time to load after rebooting the computer( 30secs on good h/w). We have observed that it is due to disk I/O. Also I hadn't seen any tool that can profile  applicaiton and provide hotsots information related to disk IO that causes slow cold startup.  I had started using WPA and XPerf and found the PDC 2009 videos helpful. As for VS 2010(WPF Application) good performance improvements have been made, it would be helpful if we can too get  tips and tricks on this area from Performance Team.
