working with dependants RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are working with the 837 claim and we treat dependants on the claim as subscribers. What would be the best way to move the dependant up to the subscriber level in R2 mapping?

Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

  • Can you let us know a little more about the situation? Is this an EDI to flat file (or db etc) where you essentially need to map both the subscriber and dependants to the same structure?

  • Its a PIA, but I have always just mapped both 2300 loops identically, and make sure your looping functoid has a source from each 2300 instance.

  • I am mapping 837p EDI to EDI we just treat every member individually so we dont have any dependants. The doctor offices submit subscribers and dependants so we need a map to create an 837 with the dependant on the source as the subscriber on the destination.

  • So you are stating that the dependant IS the subscriber, when in acutalitity it is not? (Doesn't this causing billing issues?)

    Interesting...

Anyway, you should be able to map the subscriber loop (2000B) from the source to the destination, and then have a looping functiod connect the 2000B in the source to the target
In the 2000C, simply do straight mapping from the source (2000C) to the target (2000B) and have a looping functoid connect the 2000C to the 2000B loop.

  • No problems with billing issues everyone is tracked individually. I will try that out and let yall know.

    Thanks

  • Yes, please do, if you have issues, you can also create two maps, one that simply creates the subscriber as the subscriber (if it has the 2300 in the 2000B) and another map that creates it if it has the 2300 in the 2000C.

    (BTW: you from the south?)

  • Yes, I am from the south. Are you asking because of the way I am doing things or the way I type? :)
