Service pack 1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • If I already have the service pack 1 and the update to install service pack 2 should I unstall # 1 first?

                               Thanks.

  • Hi MON 1,

    Thank you for your post.

    Some clarification with you:
    What's your OS?
Which edition of .NET Framework do you want to upgrade?

For .NET Framework service pack, generally speaking, if we want to upgrade the existing .NET Framework SP1 to SP2, we could directly install Service Pack 2 to do the updating.

If you want to upgrade .NET Framework 2.0 or 3.0 to SP1, it is recommended to install .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (Full Package) which will install .NET 2.0 SP2 and 3.0 SP2.

Moreover, some service pack of OS will also include the service pack of .NET Framework.
If you're running Windows Vista, you can upgrade Windows Vista SP1 to Windows Vista SP2 which will ship .NET 2.0 SP2 and .NET 3.0 SP2.

Hope this helps! If you have any concern, please feel free to let me know.

  • Uh, Service Pack 1 for *what software*?

The answer normally is that service packs are cumulative, and that SP2 would include SP1, BUT that is not always the case.

Please let us know what software you want to patch. Thanks.
