Throwing Exceptions in WCF RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hi,

In WCF Fault exceptions are used to throw Exception from the service to the client, but are there any other way of throwing the Exception directly instead of using the Fault exception. for example if an System.IO.IOException is encountered at the service end then can it be throw as a IOException to the client instead of a Fault Exception.

  • if you throw anything other than fault exceptions, it will fault the channels. The exception will be serialized into a faultexception at the clientside yes, but you would have a faulted channels.

Depending on your instance management, this could be an issue or not.

    throw them FaultExceptions
