  • At time of installation i didnt realize i had to download the one with developer tools to get the apps.  Is there a way besides installing that version to get the 28 metro apps?

  • The Metro apps are also included in the non Developer Tools version of the Windows 8 Preview. They should be on the start screen.

Download Windows 8 Developer Preview Metro style app samples:

This sample pack includes all the Metro style app code examples developed for Windows 8 Developer Preview. The sample pack provides a convenient way to download all the samples at once.

  • Hey Tdill,

Check to be sure that you have installed all updates that are available through Windows Update. You can do this by:

    • Enter the Start screen
    • Type Windows Update
    • Click Settings in the right column
    • Click Check for updates
    • Click Check for updates in the left column

Also User Account Control must be enabled for Metro style applications to be usable. If you have disabled User Account Control, undo that change and you should be able to access the Metro style applications.

    Hope that helps.
