Menu option on right click of an item in switch apps bar

    Question

  • Hi all,

I'm writing an metro app on window 8. However, i get an issue: i want to do something on metro similar to notification on desktop mode, right click on notification to select function. And in window 8, i find switch app bar, but i can't find out how to add an menu option when right click and handle it.

Please help to find out solution for this situation.

  • Hi TheSi,

There is no way to add custom context menu commands for a Windows Store app outside of the app itself.

  • Are you asking if you can add a context menu that appears when you right-click on a button in the app bar?

If so, here is how you can do it:

    1. Add a button to the app bar
    2. Listen to its RightTapped event
    3. Use a Popup to display your menu (or try the Flyout+Menu controls in the Callisto library)

However, I don't think it is a good design approach because very few people will discover this menu.
