Redirecting request RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi I have an azure web app and I would like to redirect some urls, for example:

    All the requests http://<website>.azurewebsites.net/blog/content/images/*

    should go to http://<website>.azurewebsites.net/content/images/*

the sample requests could be http://<website>.azurewebsites.net/blog/content/images/a/1.jpg and this should redirect to

I have read many articles and tried changing the web.config file (adding rewrite/redirect rules), however nothing seems to work.

Can you please tell me what should I do to enable this redirection?

  • Greetings!

Thank you for contacting Microsoft forums. We are pleased to answer your query.

There is a discussion on similar query here, kindly check the suggestions outlined by David Ebbo and see if that helps.

Location tags are used to specify path-specific configuration as an alternative to having a Web.config file in the folder mapped to that virtual path, you may check the link below for more details on this:

Also, check the blog here: Media Files – HTTP 404 – Azure Web Apps
