Redistribute al.exe and resgen.exe RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can I deliver al.exe and resgen.exe with my comercial software?

They are included in Windows SDK, and these EULA do NOT prohibit this, but I don't plan to redistribute Windows SDK.

  • @Tobias,

You are not selling these tools to your customer. I think you can deliver them in your software.

    Best regards,

    Barry

  • Your question is a licensing issue, not a .NET Framework setup issue (this forum's topic).

    Try here:

Call 1-800-426-9400, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Pacific Time) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist, and you can get more detail information from there. • Hello Tobias.Heilmannseder

As they are developer tools in .NET Framework. I think it is possible for you to use that in your software. May I know how you will use it in your software?

    Best regards,

    Barry

  • Hello Barry,

I am using it to generate a Language-Assembly for use with wpflocalizeextension.

resgen.exe is used to generate a .resource file

And then al.exe is used to link this alltogether in assemblies for each lang.

    Best regards

    Tobias
