I am trying to follow this tutorial: https://www.rizamarhaban.com/2017/09/30/real-time-android-ios-apps-using-signalr-core/

but I am almost immediately blocked, I cannot create a “Cross Platform App (Xamarin)” project as Visual Studio 15.7.0 Preview 1.0 (newest version) has no such option.

What is a “Cross Platform App (Xamarin)” project and how do I create one?

One is a full app. One is a library not an app. Or did you mean you created as Crossplatform app with .NET standard as the code-share strategy.

I will virtually guarantee you haven't FULLY installed VS2017. Install EVERYTHING. Every workload. Every option. Every checkmark. Every package. The whole shooting match AND the kitchen sink. Leave nothing out. http://redpillxamarin.com/2018/03/12/2018-101-vs2017-new-solution/

I tried creating projects Cross-Platform, "Mobile App (Xamarin.Forms) and .NET Standard, "Class Library (.NET Standard), they both seem to be suitable choices. I will find out soon enough.
