  • Please help me to look at it, what is wrong for this error?

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VC>makecert -n "CN=MyLocalCA
    " -r -sv MyLocalCA.pvk MyLocalCA.cer -sky exchange
    Succeeded

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VC>certmgr -add MyLocalCA.pv
    k -s -r localmachine root
    Error: Failed to open the source store
    CertMgr Failed

    Thanks for posting it in MDSN forums.


    According to your description, you got an error when you were using the Certmgr Tool.


    I tried to reproduce the issue, but I didn’t reproduce it.


    I would suggest you have a look at the document of MSDN Library via the link below.

    In my opinion, you want to import the MyLocalCA.cer , not MyLocalCA.pvk. So you can try use the following content

    certmgr /add MyLocalCA.cer /s /r localmachine root

    instead of

    certmgr -add MyLocalCA.pvk -s -r localmachine root
