Can't uninstall .net framework!!!!

Question

Been having problems with my wifes laptop freezing. Tried to run antivirus and scandisk and both stop/freeze on c/windows/microsoft.net/framework/v2.050727/microsoft.netfram....evla.1025. Tried to run repair and uninstall from add/remove programs and both also freeze.

By the way what is .net framework used for?  My wife uses her computer mainly for surfing the net and ebaying.

Also tried to restore the computer to an earlier date all the way back to last year when she first got the computer and the few times I ran "restore" when done it says it could not complete the restore.  Thanks.

Thanks manishak for the removal tool but it did not help me. I tried to run the program but as soon as I

tried to remove .netframework my computer froze again. As I said earlier when I ran my antivirus program

or check disk my computer froze at .netframework v2.0. I have it narrowed down to the eula .txt files. Even

when I pass my pointer over the files to see the properties of the files my computer freezes!

Would it help to run the romoval tool in "safe mode"?

It seems that some versions of Norton have an issue with the .NET Framework.
