Disaster Recovery for Always On High Availability SQL Cluster RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have a requirement for one of our client where they are having a SharePoint 2013 farm with 2 SQL Server 2014 DB servers in Always On High Availability cluster.

They want to setup a Disaster Recovery environment for this complete farm.

Disaster recovery in SharePoint farm is achieved through SQL end only. What should be the options here? Please guide on available options and how to approach the same.

  • Well it would not really be great to give you options from here as I believe HA for a configuration has to take into account a lot of factors.

A simple DR would be add a node to windows cluster from DR location and install SQL Server on it. Now enable AOAG and initialize databases which are participating in AOAG. This would now give you DB at DR location which is either Syn or Async from primary location
