when I insert a row, it doesn't update the underlying database RRS feed

  • Question

  • I tried doing inserts with table adapters as well as using the objects that directly act on a row. When
    I do an insert it doesn't stick. It will show up until I close the app. Sometimes when I restart the
    app the insert will still be there, but then it disappears. No errors are triggered. It appears to work fine, but it doesn't.
    Seems to be updating the dataset in memory, but never goes to the underlying database.

    I started working with my own data and app, but to better understand what is going on I used some
    samples with the northwind database and a new app. It exhibits the same behavior.

    What am I missing?

    Here is the code I used with a table adapter:

    try

    {

    customersTableAdapter.Insert(

    "id", "company", "contact name", "title", "111", "eee", "Northwest",

    "45840", "US", "000-000-2222", "none");

    customersTableAdapter.Update( nwindDataSet);

    customersTableAdapter.Fill(nwindDataSet.Customers);

    }

    catch (Exception ex)

    {

    MessageBox.Show("Failed" + ex.Message);

    }
