    Hello,

All of my experience (as little as it is) is with IIS version 6.

One of our IT guys just built a new web server for us, with windows server 2012 and IIS 8.

I want to move a web application to it.

In IIS6, all that I had to do was create a folder, then web share the folder and it would show up under the "Default Web Sites" in IIS where I could set it's properties etc.

From there it was available on the web.

Now in IIS8, I see there is still a Default Web Site directory, but when I added a shared folder (on the c drive), it did not show up under the "Default Web Site" directory in IIS.

I am sure things are different, but can you tell me how to get the site into the IIS directory?

When I right click " Default Web Site" I see a couple options:  Add Application and Add Virtual Directory, but I don't want to mess until I have some direction.

    thanks

Visit the http://www.iis.net/ web site and look up some of the tutorials. IIS 8 is very different, drove me nuts and still does at times.

    Update,

when I put the folder then shared it under the inetpub...wwwroot it appeared under "Default Web Sites".

So the next question is, how do I set the start page and assign the proper .Net framework and other properties?

    Thanks

you need to attach an APP Pool to your site and that is where you bind the framework.

Under the IIS section for your web site is the Default Document icon, click it and set your home page there.
