Myanmar Text bugs report

    General discussion

  • I don't really quite know how to bug report for text rendering issues. So I am posting it here. I'm hoping this message will be forwarded to the right places. Thanks.

Myanmar Text regular font has several rendering issue. This is the detailed report as a pdf file http://db.tt/3sYkjFV9 .

    (1) When Asat+Dot below 103A 1037 is normalized, it was reverse-ordered as dot below+asat 1037 103A. So, both asat+dot below and dot below+asat orders should render correctlywithout dotted circle.

    Note:#

There is no specific information about dot below normalization in TUS 6.0. But Martin expressed about normalization in Page 9 and 10 of
    http://unicode.org/notes/tn11/UTN11_3.pdf

"any normalization process will order them with the
lower dot first, but only when they are stored directly after each other. Thus U+103A U+1037 will always be
    normalized to U+1037 U+103A."

    Please check following websites.
We discussed about dot below & ASAT case as advance.

    (2) Vowel u 102F, vowel uu 1030 , medial wa 103D, medial ha 103E and dot below 1037 should align with right side of consonant (not in the middle).

    (3) Consonants below (after virama 1039) should align with right side of above consonant. If the below consonant is wider than above consonant, below one should align to the middle of above one.

    (4) Anusvara 1036 positioning should be consistent to the right of consonant.

    (5) And some shaping bugs with medial ra 103C and vowel tall AA 102B.

    (6) Internet Explorer doesn't detect Myanmar texts and only shows square boxes.

  • Are you seeing these issues with metro style apps written with XAML and C#/C++ ? If so, could you please include XAML snippets to repro these issues and i'll also file some bugs.

  • Thank you for your kind replies and sorry for my late reply. I am hearing last few days from Unicode conference that the font was fixed mostly. The texts act the same on Matro style apps. I think so long as the font is fixed, it will most likely work on apps too. I will keep updating later (hopefully from Windows feedback Tool).
