  • Hello Harry_iiit,

For this crash issue, more details are required.

Please open an administrative CMD window and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE and run this command:

    devenv.exe /log

You can refer to this page: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/vstudio/ms241272.aspx

Please upload the Activity.xml log to www.skydrive.com and send your link to me.

But he way, you can also try some steps below:

    1.devenv.exe /safemode

    2.devenv.exe /resetskippkgs

    3.devenv.exe /installvstemplates

    4.devenv.exe /resetsettings

    5.devenv.exe /resetuserdata

  • Sorry you just give me the Activity.xsl which is just a style sheet which helps us to read Activity.xml file from IE. So I'm not able to know the reason.

    Possible reasons may be:

    1. Corrupt User Setting as you mentioned.

    2. Corrupt package loading.

Anyway, glad to hear the commands worked for you.

    Cheers

  • Thanks Barry!  The following command solved the issue for me. Looks to me corrupted settings was the culprit

     devenv.exe /resetuserdata

  • That helped me with a crash of Visual Studio 2013 Pro on first run, too.  Thanks!  (Found this by googling the first two lines of the problem signature.)
