Visual Studio 11 Beta and InstallShield 2012 Support

Question

Hi All
I've recently downloaded the Visual Studio 11 Beta and looking at how we will plan our transition to it, once it is RTM.
Following MS recommendation of using InstallShield for creating .MSI installers (as they are decommissioning their Setup Project templates from this version), I am looking at the impact of us procuring InstallShield, either now or in the near future.
I am wandering if Visual Studio 2012 (once it is no longer beta) will work/integrated with InstallShield 2012 and/or InstallShield 2013 (which is due out soon)?
NOTE: I cant get the InstallShield 2012 LE/EE working in the Visual Studio 11 Beta at all, wont comile, detect my previos installtion of InstallShield, wont edit my previous LE/EE projects etc.
We dont want to procure InstallShield 2012 now if it wont work with Visual Studio 2012?
How I get round this problem until both are formally announced will be an headache but any steer is much welcome.
I have asked a similar question on the installshield forums also
Any questions feel free to ask
Thanks in advance
kyle

Hi Kyle,
I don't know much about InstallShield, but there is also the WIX Installer Tools, that you may also want to take a look at. We've used the WIX Tools to author a number of installers (including the one for the Visual Studio SDK.
I haven't used it with VS 11 Beta (not sure if it targets it yet), but I suspect all the major setup/install vendors like InstallShield etc, will have a release with the release of VS 11, or shortly thereafter.
You'll have to contact the individual vendors to see if you can get an idea as to the timeline, if you'll need to upgrade, or if there will be an update that will let the software work with VS 11.
Thanks,
Ed Dore

Hi,
InstallShield is a third part product which will not support by Microsoft. If you have any question about it, please create a new thread in the InstallShield Forums. If you have any other question about Visual Studio, please create a new thread in the Visual Studio Forums.
Best Regards,
Purvi
