  • The database diagrams feature was removed in SSMS 18 client tool. It is not related to the SQL Server version or edition. See the release notice (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/ssms/release-notes-ssms).

Diagrams still exists in older SSMS versions so you could install an older version of SSMS if you must use the feature.

  • Do you use SSMS 18?

it’s part of SQL Server Data Tools for Visual Studio. It also lets you compare schemas and data differences between DBs as well https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/vs/features/ssdt/

  • Hi Manoj Gokhale,

If you mean the Database Diagrams feature in SSMS, it has been deprecated in SSMS 18.0 (GA). Please refer to Deprecated and removed features in 18.0 (GA).

If you still want to use it, you can use SSMS 17.9.1.

  • The diagramming tool worked very well.

Visual Studio Data Tools doesn't have a diagramming function.

Does Microsoft have any plans to offer another diagramming tool?
