Unable to use PowerPivot with Excel 2010 Beta RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I installed Excel 2010 Beta (32 bit), having checked I had the .Net Framework 3.5 sp1. I then installed PowerPivot (32 bit). When I opened Excel 2010, I got an encouraging dialogue about the requirement for an AS Server. As we have one, I select to specify an AS Server. I didn't get much more than that, because my 2005 DM addins were causing a problem. I had to deal with that issue. The Gemini ribbon has never displayed and no matter how many repairs I attempt and de-installations and re-installations of PowerPivot I try, I can't get that dialogue box back, nor does the ribbon show. Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thx

  • Hi,

I just found this. will give it a go and see what happens

Based on the error message you are seeing, I believe you have only installed Excel when you installed office.  For Office Beta 2 / PowerPivot CTP3, you need to also install Office Shared Tools feature when you install Office.  You should:

    1. Uninstall PowerPivot
    2. Uninstall Office
    3. Reinstall Office, specifying at least Excel + Office Shared Tools
    4. Reinstall PowerPivot

    Thanks,
