Creating versions only after conditions are met RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a list that goes through a approval process that was created with a 2013 workflow.

When the status changes to approved I want a new version to be created. This is the only time I want a version to be created.

Currently because of updating fields and workflows I am creating about 20 versions per approval process.

Would calling a power shell script that creates a version be the best way to achieve this?

Also how do i prevent versions from being created in all other instances.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hi SP Hero- I don't believe that's possible. I can't think of a way to prevent SharePoint from creating a version when you have versioning turned on.

  • You can limit the number of versions.
