Updating Data in Linked Table RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am having issues adding new data to an existing linked table. The original source data table is contained within the workbook.

When I try to add new data (copy+paste into original data table), then select "update all" on the power pivot menu, I get an error message:

"There were errors trying to update one or more linked tables.  Use Options below to see ways to fix these problems, or OK to continue without fixing them."

Note that this message is received after ensuring the new data has the same number of columns and the same formatting as the existing data. When I try to copy and paste the data directly into the PowerPivot table, a new table is created rather than updating the existing table.

Please let me know what I can do to resolve this issue.

    Thank you,

    Andrea

  • Hi Andrea,

    Thanks for your question.

For this issue, I would suggest you to refer to a similar thread in blow link:

However, when I am trying to add new data (copy+paste into original data table), then select "update all" on the power pivot menu, I did not get this error message. I can get this error message only when I remove data in the one side table for one-to- many relationship. For this error, you can either select the option "Do Nothing" or "Remove link to Excel Table".
