VS Shell 2010 (isolated) Macro support RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just downloaded the trial of VS2010 and the 2010 SDK and built a sample shell application.  It appears that the macro functionality has been removed from the isolated shell for 2010 as it's nowhere in sight.  Is this the case?  This page: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb685612.aspx  states "The following features are standard to all editions of Visual Studio." and the list includes macro support.  It was definitely in the isolated shell for 2008 as there is even an example of how to remove it using the pkgundef here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc138579.aspx

    Thanks.

  • Not sure where its documented but this session mentioned macro's got removed and you're advised to go the VSTA route instead.

  • Hi mzerda - The macros funcitonality was removed for the 2010 release of the Visual Studio Shell.  The documentation links are unfortunately out of date, and will be updated.  Thanks for letting us know about this.
