Clicking design view for html page doesn't show design view.

Have the same issue using VS 2015 and now VS 2017 also. I've already done a clean reinstalled, reset setting, right clicked > open with html (web forms) editor, made sure the web forms designer was enabled under Tools.

Delete the files inside this folder:

C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\14.0\ComponentModelCache

Deleting ComponentModelCache didn't working either. Also tried deleting the entire VisualStudio folder in AppData before launching and that also didn't fix the issue.

Try these steps.

1. Tools -> Options -> Text Editor -> File Extension

2.

Extension: html

Editor: HTML (Web Forms) Editor

Add

select Map extensionless files to: HTML (Web Forms) Editor
