cin.get() and _getch() and system("pause") don't seem to work although the program runs find. I get PDB file errors. Also, isn't there a wayto go back to the output you jst got to see the end of the program?

Of course they do. Thousands of programmers use them every
>I get PDB file errors.
What does that have to do with the above functions?
You will usually get more direct assistance if you
state clearly *what* errors you are getting.
>isn't there a wayto go back to the output you jst got
>to see the end of the program?
It's not at all clear what you are referring to here.
Do you mean the build results? Or the output from an
execution of your own program?
Assuming that it's a console app, then once the program
terminates the console window will close and be destroyed.
That's why methods such as those you listed are used to
keep the console window from closing until you want it to.
If you want to have more time to look over the results,
you may be happier running your program from the command
line prompt in a console session. That also gives you the
options of piping the output through the "more" filter or
redirecting it to a file.
