.cab file developed for Windos Standard CE 5.0 not compatible in Windows 7 Embedded RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys,

Can anyone help me with this issue? I have an application developed for Windows Ce 5.0, I tried to install it on a device which  has Windows 7 embedded running on it. When I try to install the application a pop up window appears and says that the application is not compatible with these version of the operating system.

Are the .cab files compatible or I need to generate a .exe file?

The application where developed with the next features:

    - Visual Studio 2005 (Upgraded now to 2008)

    - .Net Framework 2.0 (Upgraded now to 3.5)

    - SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5

I really appreciate any kind of help!

  • Hi J.H3nRy,

There is no such product "Windows 7 Embedded" but I can guess at what is happening to you. Windows CE 5 is based on the Windows CE product line so would not be compatible with Windows Embedded Standard edition.

If you are targeting a Windows Embedded Standard based system, you will want to compile you code for a Windows 7 Desktop (X86).

    Sincerely,
